History of Clearwater
Long ago, Clearwater was the site of Fort Harrison where wounded soldiers healed after fighting Indians on the Florida frontier. The United States Army began the fort in 1841 during the Second Seminole War. The fort closed in less than six months and the area was opened to settlers.
